SEATON RANGERS have added the
SJR BUILDING CONTRACTORS CUMBERLAND CUP to the E Lamb Cumberland Amateur Cup.
Rangers lifted the second trophy with a 36-16 win over
DISTINGTON at the Cumbria Sports Academy.
Prop Andy McGlasson, the man of the match, set the scene with an early touchdown and a try and two conversions by winger Chris Highton helped forge a 12-0 lead by the 13th minute.
Distington hit back when centre Gavin Martin crossed, stand-off Clayton Sutton improving, before Seaton eased clear again when winger Chris George squeezed in at the corner and Highton landed a second goal from wide out.
Sutton replied with a try and a goal to reduce the arrears to six points and, in a spell of heavy pressure looked like restoring parity. But centre Mark Routledge crossed, against the run of play, a minute before the break, Highton adding the extras for a 24-12 interval lead.
Centre Tony Roper and substitute Peter Watson powered over in the second period, Highton adding both conversions in a six-goal haul which included three from the touchline. Distington had to settle for a touchdown by winger Daniel Dryden in response.
