Fullback Billy Slater, the villain of the piece for his wayward pass when
AUSTRALIA lost to New Zealand in last year’s World Cup Final, made amends this evening in the
GILLETTE FOUR NATIONS FINAL against
ENGLAND.
Slater romped over for a hat-trick as the Kangaroos recovered from 16-14 down to win 46-16.
The maestro’s first try helped Australia retrieve the lead after Sam Burgess had put England ahead with his second touchdown, and the Green & Golds never looked back.
Winger Brett Morris - with his second try – Cameron Smith and Jarryd Hayne all crossed in a trademark finish, with Johnathan Thurston completing a seven-goal haul.
Greg Inglis scored the Kangaroos’ other try, while Peter Fox crossed for England and Kevin Sinfield landed a couple of goals.
