The quarters beckon

The three major cup competitions in the CMS YORKSHIRE LEAGUE are at the quarter-finals stage.

The tie of the round in the FRED MARSHALL SENIOR CUP is the meeting of QUEENS and HUNSLET WARRIORS - if the Warriors can overcome UPTON in the delayed first round clash.

Pairings

FRED MARSHALL SENIOR CUP: Batley Boys or Ossett Trinity v Fryston; Middleton Marauders v Dewsbury Moor; Queens v Hunslet Warriors or Upton; Allerton Bywater v Birstall Victoria.

GORDON TEAL WHITE ROSE TROPHY: Chequerfield v Kettlethorpe; Manston or Wakefield City v Ryhill Hammers; Mirfield v Sherburn; Doncaster Toll Bar v Heckmondwike.

ALLIANCE: Castleford Lock Lane v Heworth; Castleford Panthers v Crofton Cougars; Milford Marlins v Oulton Raiders; Normanton Knights v Hunslet Warriors.

The Castleford & Featherstone ARL has supplied three new teams for the CMS Yorkshire League’s new season.

Chequerfield, Fryston and Pontefract Social Club were all voted in by delegates at last night’s agm at Shaw Cross, Dewsbury.

Queens, Hunslet Old Boys, Hunslet Warriors and Oulton, all of whom were rebuffed by the Pennine League on Monday evening, remain in membership.

Cutsyke Secretary Dean Elliott was announced as Sports Person of the Year, and Dave Asquith was recognised as Referee of the Year. Matt Orford, of Sherburn Bears, received an award for Services to Sport.

Meanwhile, Heworth were handed the Fair Play Trophy, and Secretary Malcolm Sellers and sponsor Ian Cushnie, of CMS Supplies, were made Life Members.

The Management Committee is now resolving divisional structures for the new season, which opens on Saturday 5 September.
