Pennine pairings…

The draws have been made for the PENNINE LEAGUE’S quarter-finals in the ANDREW BENNETT MEMORIAL TROPHY and the SUPPLEMENTARY CUP.

Pairings in those competitions, and in the PRESIDENT’S CUP are:

PRESIDENT’S CUP: St Joseph’s v Sharlston Rovers; Slaithwaite Saracens v Birkenshaw; Keighley Albion v King Cross Park; Halifax Irish v Drighlington.

ANDREW BENNETT MEMORIAL TROPHY: Bank Top Harriers v West Leeds; Lindley Swifts v Liversedge; Dodworth v Siddal B; Selby Warriors or Dudley Hill A v Littleborough.

SUPPLEMENTARY CUP: Dearne Valley Bulldogs A v Wibsey Warriors A; Underbank Rangers A or South Bradford v New Earswick All Blacks A; Whitehall Warriors v Odsal Sedbergh A; Brighouse Rangers A or Keighley Town A v Woodhouse Warriors.

Dates have yet to be confirmed.

Wolves away – if…

WESTGATE WOLVES will be away to either HUDDERSFIELD ST JOSEPH’S or ELLAND in the quarter-finals of the PENNINE LEAGUE’S PRESIDENT’S CUP.

That, though, is subject to them overcoming holders SHARLSTON ROVERS.

Pennine League bosses are to adjudicate on last Saturday’s game between the sides, which finished at 20-20, with the referee refusing to play extra time after having initially calculated that the Wolves had won.

PENNINE PRESIDENT’S CUP (QUARTER FINALS): St Joseph’s or Elland v Westgate Wolves or Sharlston Rovers; Slaithwaite Saracens v Birkenshaw; Keighley Albion v King Cross Park; Halifax Irish v Drighlington.

ANDREW BENNETT MEMORIAL TROPHY (ROUND TWO): Littleborough v Elland A; Liversedge or Hollinwood v Stanningley A or Moldgreen; Sharlston Rovers A or Newsome Panthers v Bank Top Harriers; Dodworth v Odsal Sedbergh; West Leeds v Wibsey Warriors; Selby Warriors v Dudley Hill A or Underbank Rangers; Morley Borough v Lindley Swifts; Greetland All Rounders v Siddal B.

The Pennine League has conducted the draws for its major cup competitions.

Ties, to be played on Saturday 24 October, are:

PRESIDENT’S CUP: Kings Cross Park v Clayton; New Earswick All Blacks v Emley Moor; Halifax Irish v Queensbury; West Bowling A v Westgate Wolves; Birkenshaw v Ackworth Jaguars; Keighley Town v St Joseph’s.
All other qualifying teams, including holders Sharlston Rovers, have byes.

ANDREW BENNETT MEMORIAL TROPHY (PRELIMINARY ROUND): Undercliffe Wildboars v Bank Top Harriers; Dearne Valley Bulldogs v Wibsey Warriors.
All other qualifying teams, including holders Slaithwaite Saracens, have byes.

SUPPLEMENTARY CUP (PRELIMINARY ROUND): Selby Warriors A v Slaithwaite Saracens; Farnley Falcons v Whitworth Spartans.
All other qualifying teams, including holders Siddal B, have byes.

Minutes silence for Brown

The Pennine League management would like to offer the sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Chris Brown writes Jamie Hobbs.

The 24 year old received serious head injuries in an accidental clash of heads in his team Silsden Park Rangers, opening Pennine Division Five fixture versus Meltham All Blacks on Saturday 5th of September. Brown, became unconscious at the time and was taken to Airedale General Hospital A&E before being transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

An emergency operation to reduce pressure was performed but Chris’s condition never improved and he didn’t regain consciousness. On Wednesday (16th Sept) evening Chris passed away peacefully in his bed surrounded by his family and very close friends.

Stuart Brown, the Pennine League President, said : “This is truly tragic news and our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Chris as well as the Silsden Park Rangers Club.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with all those involved at this devastating time. We ask all our member clubs to observe a minutes silence in respect of Chris at the earliest possible fixture.”
